Sip of Spring Elderflower Old-Fashioned Recipe

Fresh and fragrant elderflower liqueur gives this traditional bourbon cocktail a spring-like twist. It’s the perfect brunch, lunch or dinner drink to serve as the days get longer and temperatures get warmer.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce elderflower liqueur (I use St. Germain's)
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters
  • 2 ounces rye or bourbon
  • Orange twist

Instructions

  • Place one large ice cube in a chilled old-fashioned glass.
  • Add elderflower liqueur and bitters.
  • Pour in rye or bourbon.
  • Slide orange twist down the side of the glass (on the inside), stir lightly and serve!

Notes

  1. To make an orange twist, use a vegetable or citrus peeler to peel about a 2- to 3-inch piece of orange peel.
  2. For ultimate enjoyment, use one large ice cube that will melt into the cocktail slowly as you enjoy it. You can find large cocktail ice molds here (affiliate link).
